I Have a Song to Sing O!

Patience

Patience

This Spring we are collaborating with English Touring Opera, to deliver workshops for teenagers and young adults, introducing the world of Gilbert and Sullivan, and focusing on vocal technique, dialogue, comic timing and patter songs. The sessions will also look at pathways into the profession.

Ex-D’Oyly Carte mezzo-soprano Gaynor Keeble, who played Kate in the Company’s The Pirates of Penzance at the Queens Theatre in 1998/9, and ETO’s star baritone Bradley Travis lead the workshops. Bradley was Bunthorne in ETO’s acclaimed Patience last spring, and Gaynor has sung principal roles for almost all of the UK’s leading opera companies, including several years with D’Oyly Carte. Pitched for young singers (aged approximately 15-30) of all abilities, the workshops will be fun, inspiring and insightful.

The workshops are entirely free, and there are complementary packs for all participants, containing information about the voice, Gilbert and Sullivan’s works and history, and further educational information, as well as a CD.

If you live in Cambridge, Cheltenham, Exeter, Norwich, Perth or Ulverston and would like to take part please contact Daniel Coelho or call 020 7833 2555.

I Have a Song to Sing O! is supported by a generous grant from the D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust.
