This year's collaboration with Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park had garnered two nominations for awards. Firstly, the UK Theatre Awards have nominated Trial by Jury and A Matter of Misconduct in the Achievement in Opera category. We are delighted that this double bill has been recognised for the achievement it is. Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Trial by Jury was important for us and together with Scottish Opera we commissioned Toby Hession and Emma Jenkins to write a companion piece for it, which resulted in the wonderful, A Matter of Misconduct. Having this venture, especially the commission of an entirely new satirical comic light opera, recognised and appreciated is reward itself.
Secondly, our wonderfully talented designer, takis, has been nominated for his work on all three operas, The Merry Widow, Trial by Jury (150th anniversary production) and A Matter of Misconduct. He is nominated in the Designer of the Year category and we wish him and the entire team that brought his vision to the stage the very best of luck for a wonderful achievement.
