Our founder Richard D’Oyly Carte built and owned the house in 1890. After his death, his son Rupert moved in and later, his widow, Helen Lenoir, sold the island. Following a chequered history, it has been recently acquired by Andy and Sheila Hill, who are renovating the house and plan to use its ballroom for entertainment.
D’Oyly Carte Opera is privileged to present the first of these events in June this summer. Owing to the limitation imposed by the size of the ballroom and the ongoing renovation, the event will be for an invited audience only. However, it is hoped that the event will be streamed live online, and details of this will follow in due course.
Further details will follow in the coming months.
